"Down Valley" is the looser term for everything from the San Francisco end of the valley up to Yountville. Cooler climate from the bay, more sparkling and pinot, walkable town centers in Napa and Yountville. Three itineraries below, each a full day with a chauffeured car.
Day 1 — Bubbles, lunch, cabs
10:00am · Pickup at hotel. Start in Carneros while the morning is cool. Domaine Carneros for a 10:30 sparkling tasting on the terrace — easy first stop, fun view, palate fresh.
12:30pm · Lunch in Yountville. Walk-in at Bouchon Bistro or, if it's a Tuesday, the family-style $65 menu at Ad Hoc. See the dining guide for more options.
2:30pm · Cabernet in Oakville. Silver Oak's appointment-only tasting (book a week ahead) is a solid mid-afternoon stop — focused on cab and paced slow.
4:30pm · Final tasting in Yountville. Walk-in at Ma(i)sonry for a curated flight in a courtyard setting. Buy a bottle to take home if it speaks.
6:00pm · Back to the hotel. Dinner light at the hotel restaurant or a 20-minute drive to Complinein downtown Napa.
Day 2 — Downtown Napa, walking
This one is the no-car-needed day. The chauffeur drops you in downtown Napa and you walk the rest. Good for a day when yesterday was too much driving.
11:00am · Drop at the Oxbow Market. Coffee, oysters, charcuterie — pick at the stalls and treat it as a long brunch. Walk to the river.
1:00pm · Tasting at Vintner's Collective on Main Street — small producers, walk-in, $30-ish flight.
3:00pm · Second tasting at Bounty Hunter — old wine-and-saloon space, a place to slow down. Order a glass and the antipasto board.
5:00pm · Drinks at The Andazrooftop or back to the hotel.
7:30pm · Dinner at Torc or Tarla Mediterranean. Chauffeur picks up after dinner.
Day 3 — Special occasion: Yountville
The shape of this one is anchored on the dinner. The day is shorter to leave runway.
12:30pm · Light lunch in Yountville — Lucy at Bardessono. Skip dessert.
2:30pm · One tasting, Yountville-adjacent — Cliff Lede if you want big cab, or Domaine Chandon for one more round of sparkling.
5:30pm · Back to hotel, change. (Reservation at The French Laundry or any of the Michelin spots is the point of this day.)
7:00pm · Dinner. Chauffeur drops, waits or returns. 11:00pm back at hotel.
What changes seasonally
Summer adds 15–25 minutes to mid-afternoon transfers between Yountville and downtown Napa — Highway 29 packs. Winter days end sooner; aim to wrap the last tasting by 4pm if you want the golden hour drive home.
If your trip leans north, the up-valley plans cover Rutherford through Calistoga.
